My take
What surprises about the most feared hitter's racket is how little it weighs.
Heads-up: I have not played this one. What follows are the numbers and what they say next to other rackets on tour. When I test it, I will update the page.
345-360 grams. Look at the rest of the men's top: Tapia is on 360-375, Fran Guerrero on 365-375, Javi Garrido on 370 flat. Galán plays one of the lightest in the whole ranking, and he is still the one who scares you most when he comes up to smash.
The explanation is where he puts that weight. It is a diamond with a high balance and a weight system: you can move it. Little weight, but all of it up top. That is what makes it accelerate the way it does.
The catch is the core. High Memory EVA is one of the driest rubbers on the market, and on a light diamond that means the racket forgives nothing. Every off-centre ball comes straight back to your arm.
ON PAPER IT SUITS YOU IF: you really do smash, you find the middle and you want a racket that moves fast at the net.
ON PAPER IT DOES NOT IF: you have been playing less than three years, or you have had tennis elbow. This is not the racket you experiment with.
